Delivery instructions: Submissions must include a PDF of the full score and either an audio or video file or a link to a recording of a performance of the piece. All compositions must be sent via email and received by TMEA no later than December 1.

Email the file(s) to Robert Floyd and Karen Cross at and

Judging: Compositions will be judged by a panel consisting of university composition faculty and school music teachers representing each major ensemble area (band, choir, orchestra).

Compositions will be judged on the overall quality and musicality of the work, as well as the appropriateness of the piece for its prescribed audience (difficulty, range, voicing, etc.).

Awards: Prizes will be awarded $500 for “best in show” and $300 for “best in class” for each division represented. An audio or video file of the “best in show” composition will be played at the College Division meeting at the annual TMEA Convention/Clinic, and enlarged copies of all winning scores will be displayed as a part of the Research Poster Session.
