This website is the official listing of the Orchestra Division All-State Audition Material. All amendments, corrections and errata will become official only when it is published here.
All-State recording cuts will be posted at the link above at 12 pm on Friday, October 29, 2010.
Due to copyright restrictions and requests from copyright holders, excerpts will require a TMEA Login and Password to view and download the files. TMEA member director/sponsors must login and download the files and provide the excerpts to students they are sponsoring in the audition process.
Region Orchestra Chair and Recording Engineer Instructions
Recording and tracking the CD's:
- Each PDF section file contains the instructions for track content and order.
- Be sure all CDs are finalized.
- Place Region label on the bottom half of the CD (top half saved for office-applied label)
- Do not package the CD in a hard plastic jewel case. Use the paper or Tyvek sleeves, or soft plastic "Disc Saver" style CD cases. Place the identifying label directly on the bottom half of the CD.
- Print the Area Certification Form and mark out any DNA's (students who did not record a CD but who appear on your list).
- Immediately on Saturday email the Filemaker Audition file containing your results using the script in the program, or manually to fcoachman@tmea.org and adenman@tmea.org
- Ship CDs and check for fees OVERNIGHT on or before Monday, November 2 with Area Certification Form signed by both Region Division Chair and recording engineer to:

All-State Orchestra Etude Books & Etudes
Errata will not be posted in Southwestern Musician. Should you discover any errata in the music that may have been missed, please email the State Orchestra Division Chair, Jeff Turner.
Please adhere to the following:
- Editions listed.
- Metronomic parameters.
- Bowings, styles, fingerings and specific notations.
Judges will be instructed to penalize students who do not follow these guidelines

(6/16/2010) Quarter note = 56-66. All turns are regular turns NOT inverted turns. m. 5 and 29 - beat 3 fingering should be a 3. m. 40 - play in first position m. 41 - fingering at end of bar is 4th position
#26 (Allegro non troppo) Tempo: Quarter note = 92-100
(6/16/2010) Quarter note = 84-100 ms. 2, 17, 19, 30, 34, 88, and 92 - accent on beat 2, NOT decrescendo (just like in m. 6) (6/28/2010) m. 4 - staccato on beat 3 m. 15 - 3rd beat (D nat) should be a 16th note. ms. 40 and 48 should have the same bowing. (original bowing is like m. 48) ms. 40 and 48 should have the same diminuendo. (Original is like m. 40, starting on 2nd 8th note.) m. 51 - last 3 8th notes should have slur. (as in m. 43) m. 74 - 1st beat, top note, C sharp NOT C natural m. 77 - 5th note is a G. (some printings have a splotch there.) m. 80 - 1st three notes should have dots.
