Robert Floyd, Executive DirectorBobFloyd_web

Robert Floyd was selected as Executive Director of TMEA in September, 1992 and he assumed the position full-time in June, 1993. Prior to moving to Austin he taught instrumental music at L.V.Berkner High School in the Richardson I.S.D. He is married to Melinda Floyd and they have a son, Michael and a daughter, Lauren. Robert’s hobbies include music, golf, travel and playing with his children. His duties include:

  • General management of TMEA
  • Editor of Southwestern Musician
  • Coordinator of the annual Clinic-Convention
  • Liaison with other professional organizations
  • Monitor political activity with Legislature and State Board of Education

Frank Coachman, Deputy DirectorFCoachman

 

Frank Coachman assumed the duties of Deputy Director in July, 1999. He previously served as Director of Bands for C.E. Ellison High School in the Killeen I.S.D. He is married to Kaye Coachman and has two daughters, Heather and Mary Frances. His interests include family, music, antiques, remodeling, and traveling. His duties include:

  • Serve as assistant to the Executive Director
  • Guide development of special programs
  • Manage all phases of TMEA operations as related to technology
  • Serve as website coordinator
  • Coordinates the annual clinic/convention schedule

Kay Vanlandingham, Administrative DirectorKayVanlandingham

 

Kay Vanlandingham joined the TMEA staff as Administrative Director in February 2007. She brings with her 31 years of teaching experience and  is currently co-conductor of the Austin Symphony Youth Orchestra. Outside the work day she enjoys her family, singing, conducting, reading and shopping on eBay.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Executive Director
  • Administer Scholarship Programs
  • Manage Region Grants and CPE Credit
  • Prepare materials for Region, Executive Board, and State Board meetings and other meetings
  • Serve as Office Manager
  • Maintain Licensed Vendor records
  • Assist with convention housing and clinic/convention preparations

Tesa Harding, Advertising/Exhibits ManagerTesaHarding

 

TMEA was in a period of adjustment when Tesa was hired by Bill Cormack in September 1979. The death of Joe Lenzo, Executive Secretary from 1963-1978, and moving the office from Houston to Austin meant that Mr. Cormack and Tesa had to learn to do everything from hands-on experience.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Magazine Advertising
  • Exhibit Manager at Clinic/Convention
  • Maintains Sustaining Membership Records
  • Assisting the Executive Board with Convention Planning
  • Database Orders

Susan Daugherty, Membership ManagerSusanDaugherty

 

Susan Daugherty joined the TMEA staff in May 1998 as Membership Manager. She came to TMEA with six years of association experience. Susan has a son, Derek, who is the light of her life. Susan's interests include cooking, reading, working on her house, and spending time with her son.

She is responsible for:

Membership

  • Dues Invoicing
  • Dues Processing
  • Database administration
  • Address Changes
  • Magazine labels and subscriptions
  • Member services

Overseeing Convention Registration

  • Recruits Volunteers
  • Prints Badges

Proofreading Southwestern Musician

Karen Kneten, Communications ManagerKaren_web

 

Karen joined the TMEA staff in September 2005. She graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a B.A. in Communications. Her responsibilities include production of  Southwestern Musician, other TMEA publications, Clinic/Convention materials, and making updates to the TMEA website.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Serving as Managing Editor of the Southwestern Musician
  • Providing development of public relations activities
  • Coordinating the production of all publications
  • Assisting with website design
  • Assisting with the annual clinic/convention

Rita Ellinger, Membership Assistant


Rita is responsible for:

  • Assisting the Membership Manager with:
    • Database administration
    • Address Changes
    • New member accounts
    • Member services
    • Dues Processing
    • Dues Invoicing
    • New Member Packets
  • Overseeing Pre-registration at Convention
